Labrador Puppy Menu and Useful Information

You will need a crate for your puppy to sleep in. This sounds cruel, but once you and the pup get used to using it, you will never be without one ever again. Helps with house training, prevents chewing and most importantly gives puppy a break from young children when he/she is tired and needs to sleep.

From 6 weeks to 12 weeks feed your puppy 4 times a day with Skinners Field & Trail puppy food, straight from the bag! A small pot of Natural Yoghurt on top makes a tasty treat.

From 12 weeks to 6 months feed your puppy 3 times a day. No need to be still feeding puppy food. I recommend you use Skinners Field & Trial Adult food as it's lower in protein than the puppy food. This is all you will ever need to feed.

Keep exercise down to a minimum up to 6 months of age as this will reduce the risk of damage to their young hips.

Give your puppy 500mg vitamin C table until 12 months of age. At this age, it is much better to feed two smaller feeds rather than one large one, as Labradors are greedy eaters, and this will help stop them gorging themselves and reduce the risk of bloat.

Never feed your Lab just before or just after exercise, as again, this can bring on bloat (colic) which can prove fatal.

Try not to let your Lab get too fat as this is not good for him/her and can cause all kinds of problems in later life!!
